This is likely being caused because the function that you are running does not have the correct permissions to create folders within your installation.

Check that the server has the correct read/write permissions for your laravel installation.

I have tried to change parent folder to 0777, and owner of that folder to 'root', how ever the server doesnt allow me to change the owner to 'root' and the folder with 0777 gives 500 error, I think there must be a specific solution for this hosting, does any one use hostgator with Laravel ?
