I agree regarding gists. This was a topic that we discussed the other day at some length. Instead, we're going to make source embedding work better (like it does on most forums, or on GitHub).
Basically, the gists thing is intended to be an 'additional feature' and not a replacement for all source embedding. It's too difficult to use for that context.

And are gists automatically embedded? Is there also a way to just link to a gist instead?
