Mail Laravel

I'm trying to send mail using markdown, but I'm getting an error on a fresh mail instance. I'm following Jeffrey's "Laravel 5.4 from Scratch."

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '?', expecting variable (T_VARIABLE)...
