Hi!

I'm working with a project developed in Laravel 4.2. Now we want to update Laravel to 5.3.

How would you guys do it ?

  • Take one version at a time, using Shift, and make sure its working on the specific version before moving on to the next version?
  • Take my application through all updates in Shift and then correct errors?
  • Make a fresh Laravel 5.3 application and manually migrate my code from 4.2

My project is huge and it use almost all the functionalities in Laravel 4.2

I hope you will take time to answer me :) Thanks!

Honestly, Id probably start a fresh 5.3 project and move things over. It'll also give you a chance to rework somethings that may not work very well, refactor some code, and overall a good way to really know everything about the codebase.
