You should not change the id. run homestead provision after editing the yml file.. this will run all the scripts and will try to set up the box.

Provision wouldn't work because homestead could not see my box anymore. Basically, the vbox id associated with homestead changed on its own, probably after I restarted my computer and tried running homestead up, where it created a new machine like I was starting from scratch again. Before the reboot, I was already working on my homestead environment so the virtualbox machine was up and running but when I decided to add another site and run provision, homestead could not find the running box anymore.
