Hi wjohnw,

there is nothing wrong with Laravel for a Web shop. You should not focus on performance or benchmarks between different frameworks, but rather which fits for you best. This means just take the framework you have the most experience with.

If you only want to use a framework because of feature x you should think again. Learning a new framework is a long way and needs some time. Before you would have the first component, you could have the most part done if you use a good known framework.

If you struggle with performance: it's not a big deal. There are so many criterias which impact performance. So performance should be not the main concern. It's more important to create a modular base and architecture for your project. Performance can enhanced if you are done and if it's necessary. Too many people over think such things when starting a new project.
