I got tired of messing around with nginx.conf, hosts files, Homestead.yaml, etc. Once I started using Valet things became a lot easier and I don't have to worry about stuff like this. It always drove me insane when I had an extra space that was corrupting the nginx.conf.
There's a nice guide here explaining how to set it up with October.
