Read the Release Notes: http://laravel.com/docs/releases#laravel-4.2

As of 4.2 there are Soft Deleting Traits.

Thanks, but that's not answering any of any questions. I've read them carefully and isSoftDeleting() is not mentioned. And - ofcourse - neither are problems with Ardent.
