If you use Eloquent, it will auto-create/update the timestamps. The DB query builder does not do that.

If you created your Category model, you can do this, which will automatically populate the created_at and updated_at fields.

foreach ( $data as $category ) {
	Category::create([
	    'category' => $category,
	    'sort_order' => $sort++,
	]);
}
