I checked what you said and put the productscontroller code back how I have it on my localhost. I booted up my production server and now I get this error message:
Intervention \ Image \ Exception \ NotWritableException
Can't write image data to path (public/img/products/2014-12-06-14:20:21-laptop.jpg)
