Why would you want to obfuscate a server side project? No one can see the code except for users with access to the server. If that was the case, then you would want them to be able to see the code anyway. If you think that you will stop a hacking by obfuscating code, I doubt that it will work unless the hacker is lazy.

@Ed Del Monico, code obfuscation is used if you're planning on selling the server side project for your client to host. If you tie them to a license you don't want them to edit the code, especially the license verification part.
