Authentication Security Session

I have looked at this for volabook, and somewhere in the stack the Set-Cookie header is dropped (it isn't in the HTTP response received by the browser) - session files are successfully created, as well as records if we switch to the database driver. Is there a reliable way to check the response server-side for the Set-Cookie header?

I should point out he's using the latest version of L4 (4.2.16).
