Solution
Using this , I was able to swap the mail transporter on the fly.
$transport = SmtpTransport::newInstance('smtp.gmail.com', 25);
$transport->setEncryption('tls');
$transport->setUsername('gayan@x.com');
$transport->setPassword('xxxxxx');
$swift = new Swift_Mailer($transport);
Mail::setSwiftMailer($swift);
