Primary Question Using services like DigitalOcean, Fortrabbit, Heroku, etc. what's the best way to streamline the process of managing multiple client websites/apps?

I am currently looking into moving a number of my client websites from shared hosting and traditional vps hosting. Cpanel and other server control panels automate/provide interfaces for managing email/ftp/databases/subdomains but the hosting providers that come with these control panels often lack readily available deployment tools or git integration.

Using DigitalOcean (or a similar service), I would like to be able to spin up individual droplets for each project/application and have a git repo set up for easy deployment. At the same time I want to avoid creating a mail server, mysql server, or installing beanstalkd, memcached, etc on each droplet.

I'm quite at a loss for the best way to go about this, so I'm very open to suggestions and details on how other developers who provide hosting manage their client websites.

With DigitalOcean you can install a droplet just the way you like and save it as an image so you can create new droplet from it. It's a little more work than Heroku, Pagodabox or Fortrabbit but way more flexible and cheaper in my opinion.

ps setting up a mail server is way to much work, mailgun.com and mandrillapp.com are super cheap and really easy to setup

I would highly recommend Cloudways here. Why? because it gives you great flexibility in managing multiple client websites easily through its powerful console. They provide you the choice of choosing 3 cloud providers like DigitalOcean, Amazon or Google Compute Engine. What I love about Cloudways is that they have taken away a lot of pain from server management by providing a managed hosting environment.
