Just a quick update - when I have the debug bar running, the ajax works correctly. When I remove the debug bar, the ajax call no longer works and I get the two sessions. I noticed that when the debug bar is running, there is a cookie for the XSRF-TOKEN as well as a laravel_session cookie, is there a link there to what is going wrong?
