Personally, I like Sentry by Cartalyst - in fact, there is a paid for version called Sentinel which is a pimped version of it. If you check out Packagist, you'll see that Sentry has more popular... To me, that means there is a lot more support out there.
Not to down play the importance of Entrust... I just haven't used it. I guess it's a matter of preference. I hear it is awesome too.
