Installation Configuration Mail

Does anybody have any suggestions on how I might be able to configure Laravel / SwiftMailer to properly use our proxy server when attempting to connect to our outside mail server via smtp?

I know this is a very old thread but I would like to know if after all those years you have found any "clean" (without having to modify any file in the vendor/ folder) solution to use Laravel/SwiftMailer behind a proxy ?
